A 15 gallon still is a serious piece of copper, and building it yourself is a real project. The 15 Gallon EZ KIT is a You Solder copper moonshine kit priced at $699. It's made for the beginner who would rather learn with their hands than read about it.
Who it suits
This size fits a first-timer who has time to put in, a workspace to build in, and plans to use the still for more than a one-off test. If you want to master the process starting from the first solder joint, this is a satisfying place to begin.
What's inside
The copper parts to build a 15 gallon EZ KIT still, ready for you to solder. For the complete parts list, call the family shop in New Hampshire at 603-997-6786.
Set up your workshop
- A sturdy, fire-safe bench with good ventilation.
- A torch with enough heat for larger copper pieces.
- Flux, lead-free solder, and emery cloth or a wire brush.
- A helper to hold big pieces steady while the joints cool.
Your first run
Once it's soldered, fill it with water and check every seam. Then do a run with water only. Watch how fast the pot heats, where the vapor travels, and how the condensate comes off. You're the scientist here, so change one thing at a time and write down what happens. The copper, the heat, and eventually the cuts are all variables you control.
Owning a still is legal in the US, but distilling alcohol requires federal TTB permits. Follow federal, state, and local law.
