Some beginners know from day one that they want room to grow. The 10 Gallon EZ KIT is a You Solder copper moonshine kit for $599. It gives a first-time builder a bigger pot without skipping the part where you learn the craft by hand.
In the box
You get the copper components for a 10 gallon still, and you solder them together yourself. The full parts list is best heard straight from the shop, so call 603-997-6786 with any questions before you order.
How hard is it, honestly?
A bigger kit means bigger pieces and longer seams. Larger copper takes more heat to bring up to soldering temperature, so a good torch and some patience matter. None of this is advanced metalwork, but it rewards a slow, careful builder more than a rushed one.
A game plan for your first build
- Phase one: practice joints on scrap copper until your solder flows cleanly.
- Phase two: dry-fit the kit and mark how each piece lines up.
- Phase three: solder with lead-free solder, let everything cool, and fill it with water to check for leaks.
- Phase four: do a water run and learn how your heat source and cooling work together.
After that, every run is an experiment. You adjust the heat, watch vapor turn back into liquid, and learn to read your still the way a scientist reads a gauge. That's the alchemy people talk about.
Owning a still is legal in the US, but distilling alcohol requires federal TTB permits. Stills are also used for water, essential oils, and fuel alcohol (with a permit). Follow federal, state, and local law.
