Some people want to learn on something small before they go big. This 3 gallon copper still is about as small and simple as it gets. There's no thumper and nothing extra to figure out. It's just a pot, some copper, and a chance to learn how heat and vapor behave.
What's in the box
A 3 gallon copper still, handmade in our shop in New Hampshire. There's no thumper. It comes polished, so it looks like the picture when you first see it.
A word about copper
Copper oxidizes fast, so the shine will start to change, and that's normal. Think of it as your first chemistry lesson: copper reacts with the air around it. Polish it again if you like it bright, or let it age.
How hard is it?
This is one of the easiest ways in. Because it's so small, it makes only a small amount per run. For a beginner, that's a plus. Small runs mean quick experiments and lessons learned without using much material.
First steps
- Decide whether you'll keep the copper polished or let it age.
- Start by distilling water to learn your heat and watch the vapor.
- Keep notes on every run, the way any good scientist would.
- Call us with questions at 1-603-997-6786.
This is a limited-edition flash sale still, backed by our lifetime warranty, and it makes a great conversation piece too. Owning a still is legal, but distilling alcohol requires federal TTB permits. Follow federal, state, and local law.
