Let's be straight with you, since this is a site for beginners: the EZ Kit Bare is not the easiest way into copper. It's the cheapest. If you already know how to solder copper, it could be a great first still. If you don't, read this before you buy.
What's in the box
- Formed copper body parts, pre-cut and shaped. Not flat stock.
- Copper pipe and tubing.
That's all. The copper comes in cylindrical form, ready to clamp and solder. We do the hard shaping work at our shop, and you do the rest.
What's not in the box
- Solder or flux
- Clamps, tools, or a torch
- Gaskets, seals, gauges, or accessories
- Any fittings, the temperature gauge, and so on
How hard is it?
All the soldering, sealing, and finding fittings is up to you. This kit is made for people who are comfortable soldering copper, want the biggest savings, or are building a custom setup. It's not for anyone expecting a finished or semi-finished distiller, buyers with no soldering experience, or anyone who wants plug-and-play. If you've never soldered, one of our complete units is an easier start.
First steps
Pick your size, anywhere from 2 gallons to 100. Get your solder, flux, torch, clamps, and fittings together before you start. Then run the build like a lab project: dry-fit, clamp, check, and only then solder. That's where the scientist in you goes to work.
Owning a still is legal, but distilling alcohol requires federal TTB permits. Follow federal, state, and local law.
